Hyperbole and a Half: The Year Kenny Loggins Ruined Christmas

i love my dog but he hates baths!

i waited 15 years for my dog [yes, i said 15 but that's a story for another post] and the only thing that would make him perfect is if he were a water lover. you see, i love the water, especially the river, and oh, i can't even count the days i spent envying those owners whose pooches jumped right into the water without reservations! they jump in chasing sticks and balls or just jump in as soon they get close. the moments that really got me were the ones with owner and dog both paddling together. can you say AAAAAHHHHH?!! i didn't choose my dog, he was brought home to me, i love him dearly and would not trade him for the world but alas, a water dog he is NOT. and okay, i can still walk him to the river, we can get near and look and still enjoy the falls but don't dare try to get him in. however, there are times when he needs a bath. when we lived in a house and had a yard, i bathed him in the backyard in the kiddie pool. i put on my bathing suit and it was a combination of bathing and wrestling! now that we are in an apartment, i have been forced to bath him in my bathtub. actually, i have to physically pick him up and put him in the tub - thank goodness he only weighs 40 pounds. so after putting him in the tub and lathering him up and rinsing, comes the challenging part of keeping him from shaking water all over the bathroom. i have FAILED miserably at this part. suffice to say, the walls and the floor will be cleaned and i will be be showering as i am now soaking wet as well!!!!
